Its normal to not feel normal after a motor vehicle accident.
You aren’t alone, but the psychological effects that often exist alongside the physical injuries are not something we often hear about. Every year, thousands of people suffer from accident-related challenges and trauma.
After an accident, the following emotional and neurological challenges are common, and can be addressed in ICBC counselling / counselling for motor vehicle accidents :
Fear of driving, or change in driving behaviours
Fatigue and low energy
Mood changes such as irritability or feeling depressed
Identity and relational challenges related to lack of normal functioning, or needing support, help or care
Panic attacks
Memories or flashbacks
Insomnia or nightmares
Forgetfulness or challenges focusing
Increased general anxiety
While some of these symptoms can fade over time on their own, we are here to support you with moving through the after effects - whether you’re experiencing a bit of anxiety, relational challenges, or symptoms of PTSD following a car-related accident.
ICBC counselling helps us support you in not feeling quite so alone in navigating your way through healing.
If you have already been approved for ICBC funding, and are interested in ICBC Counselling with us, please contact us here to be connected with a counsellor for a free consultation and to book your first session.
